In reflecting on a busy but successful half-term I would like to welcome parents and carers of students who have joined us this term, especially those of you who are new to the College. This year 187 Year 7 students have made a very successful transition from their primary schools. I have been very impressed by the manner in which they are working hard in lessons, demonstrating a positive attitude to learning and already making a significant contribution to the wider life of the college.
We have also welcomed new colleagues to the college this year, who are fulfilling a wide range of leadership, teaching and support staff responsibilities. We hope they are settling well in to their new roles and will be happy in their work at Corpus Christi.
I would also like to welcome two new colleagues to our Governing Body. Mr. Paul Lawson joins us as a Foundation Governor. Many of you will know that Paul was a successful Head teacher at St. Nicholas’ Primary School. Following the recent Parent Governor ballot, I am pleased to confirm that Mrs E McCarthy has successfully been appointed as our new Parent Governor. I look forward to working closely with them both in the coming years.
I would also like to extend my congratulations to Nathan and Georgia our new Head Boy and Head Girl who were appointed to their new posts following formal interviews at the beginning of the term. In addition, the KS4 Junior Leadership team, Prefects and Key Stage 3 Ambassadors have been assigned their responsibilities for the year. All our Student Leaders have commenced their duties including supporting the very successful College Open Evening which was attended by over 350 prospective parents and students.
Finally, just to thank parents and carers for their continued support in helping us to maintain our high standards of uniform and ensuring that students are fully equipped for learning.
I’m now looking forward to another really positive half-term in the build up to Christmas.
