Positive Discipline

Behaviour and Expectations

At Corpus Christi Catholic College, we aim to foster a welcoming, caring and inclusive Christian learning environment where strong relationships are built on mutual respect, consideration and dignity for others.

All staff are committed to maintaining high standards of behaviour and conduct. Through clear expectations, positive recognition and appropriate rewards, we aim to encourage students to make positive choices, develop self-discipline and take responsibility for their actions. This enables every student to fulfil their potential and supports their happiness, wellbeing and success during their time at Corpus Christi Catholic College.

Rewards and Recognition

At Corpus Christi Catholic College, positive behaviour is recognised and encouraged. Students who demonstrate our expected standards of behaviour, respect, effort and conduct may receive appropriate praise, recognition and rewards.

Our approach aims to ensure that students understand not only the consequences of inappropriate behaviour, but also the value of making positive choices and contributing to our College community.

Clear Behaviour Expectations

Our expectations apply to all students and are designed to create a safe, respectful and positive environment in which everyone can learn and thrive.

Students are expected to:

  • Treat staff, students and visitors with respect and consideration.
  • Demonstrate good behaviour and self-discipline.
  • Follow reasonable instructions from staff.
  • Take responsibility for their choices and actions.
  • Complete assigned work and participate positively in learning.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and respectful College community.
  • Follow the College’s expectations regarding bullying, harassment and unacceptable conduct.

Policy and Statutory Framework

The Corpus Christi Catholic College Behaviour, Rewards and Expectations Policy has been developed with regard to current Department for Education guidance and recommendations and the statutory requirements set out in Section 89(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006.

The policy sets out the measures used by Corpus Christi Catholic College to:

  • Promote good behaviour, self-discipline and respect.
  • Recognise and reward positive behaviour.
  • Prevent bullying and other unacceptable behaviour.
  • Ensure students complete assigned work and engage positively with learning.
  • Establish clear expectations for student conduct.
  • Support the safety, wellbeing and educational development of all students.

Based on Department for Education guidance: Behaviour and Discipline in Schools (2016).

Please see our Positive Discipline Behaviour Policy within our key policies page.
