Home & Remote Learning

At Corpus Christi Catholic College, Home Learning is designed to help students build knowledge, develop effective study habits and become increasingly independent learners.

Our approach is based on VITA – Vocabulary, Internet, Teach an Adult and Action. Students will experience a range of activities that support learning beyond the classroom, from learning key vocabulary and practising knowledge online to explaining their learning to others and completing practical activities.

Home Learning

Students are expected to:

  • Record all Home Learning in their school planner, including the task and deadline.
  • Check their planner regularly and organise their time effectively.
  • Complete and submit work by the deadline.
  • Use online platforms such as Sparx, Seneca and Google Classroom when directed by their teachers.
  • Speak to their teacher if they are unsure about a task or need support.

Home Learning should be purposeful, manageable and closely linked to the curriculum.

How can parents and carers help?

You don’t need to be an expert in the subject to support your child. The most valuable support is to show interest, encourage good routines and help your child develop independence.

Encourage your child to:

  • Check their planner and know what needs to be completed.
  • Find a quiet, distraction-free place to work.
  • Organise their time rather than leaving work until the last minute.
  • Explain what they have been learning to you.
  • Ask their teacher for help if they are finding something difficult.

Remote Learning

If remote learning is required, students will receive clear instructions from their teachers about how to access their learning and what they are expected to complete.

Students should:

  • Check the online platform specified by their teacher.
  • Follow the instructions and complete work by the required deadline.
  • Keep their planner up to date.
  • Contact their teacher if they are unable to access the work or require support.

Our aim is simple: Home Learning should help every student become a knowledgeable, confident and independent learner.

VITA – Vocabulary. Internet. Teach an Adult. Action.
